Performance Objectives
The Bermuda Government commissioned two identical high-capacity passenger ferries to modernise inter-island transport, with a focus on reliable high-speed operation, passenger comfort, and efficient daily service. The vessels were required to support frequent schedules while maintaining consistent propulsion performance across varying operational conditions.
VEEM’s involvement focused on delivering a propeller solution capable of supporting the vessels’ powertrain and service profile, with emphasis on efficiency, durability, and fine performance trimming capability via interceptor technology.
Propulsion Solution
VEEM supplied fixed-pitch VEEMStar-C propellers fitted with 1.00 mm interceptor strips, enabling precise post-installation tuning to suit the vessels’ operating envelope. The Interceptor™ technology allows small pitch adjustments without physical re-machining, supporting optimisation of engine loading and speed balance between hulls.
